Education
Global issues such as climate change, depletion of natural resources and energy, promotion of renewable energy, and creation of sustainable cities involve many academic fields. It is impossible to fully solve those problems with the knowledge and skills of a single academic field. In this department, faculty with diverse backgrounds provide PBL (Project-Based Learning) and education related to English to train individuals who already have an advanced engineering education. These individuals will gain a solid knowledge base and the perspective of diverse academic fields, the ability to identify problems and solve them, and design-thinking skills targeting those affected by issues.
Our objective is to foster individuals who are not bound by existing academic frameworks and can innovate novel technology, values, and concepts from a higher perspective. Therefore, we train individuals with the ability to solve complex problems shared by the international community based on an understanding of the systems of science and engineering, but without being constricted by them. Students develop the ability to innovate new technology, values, and concepts needed by society (problem identification and solving ability, creative thinking, and the ability to execute solutions). We prepare students for the global workplace with a science and engineering background, additional abilities such as communication skills to work with engineers from other fields in international collaboration, and management skills required for complex projects and organizations.
