Assistant Professor Fukang Liu has two papers accepted by Asiacrypt 2024, which is one of the top conferences for cryptographic research. In particular, his collaborative work with Yingxin Li (Visiting Researcher at Institute of Science Tokyo) was rewarded with the Best Paper Award.
In this work on the hash function standard SHA-256, they found the first practical collision attack on 31-step SHA-256, updating the previous record after almost 10 years.
