An information and debrief session regarding the International Exchange Program of Tokyo Tech's three Schools — the School of Engineering, School of Materials and Chemical Technology, and School of Environmental and Society — was held on November 6.
In the first half of the session, Associate Professor Jiro Takemura, chair of the International Exchange Committee affiliated to these three Schools, explained the overview of the program and the requirements and procedures for the next application, while Specially Appointed Professor Eri Ota introduced the Global Scientists and Engineers Course (GSEC).

It was my first time to go out from Asia, so everything was new to me. The most impressive result is that I now feel free to express my opinion. There were not many meetings in the lab but instead, I frequently talked with the supervising professor about my experiments and study plan. I expect more chances to share my ideas in the future so it is important to have an active and independent attitude.
Our lab lied at a place called Begbroke Science Park several kilometers away from the department, and there was a free minibus we could take. Our group was a really lovely one and mixed with people from basically all over the world so that we had a lot of cultural exchange experiences. Meanwhile, the whole working environment was good and I learnt a lot of new knowledge and skills which I was not familiar with before that.
I will take this experience as an incentive to keep working hard and try my best in everything I do.
This information and debrief session was an opportunity to promote better understanding of the three Schools' International Exchange Programs, and to access fresh local information through testimonials provided by participants who had just returned to Japan. The summer continues to be the most popular study abroad period for Tokyo Tech students as it allows them to adjust their academic schedules effectively and join outstanding partner institutions in the US and Europe.
