Education and research In the Graduate Major in Computer Science covers the following areas.
(1) Comprehensive hardware development
(2) Techniques and basic theories necessary for designing advanced software and efficiently developing and implementing large-scale software
(3) Development of better interfaces between humans and computers
Research in these areas together with the close ties that exist between them make it possible to research and develop technologies that lead to even better information systems.

An education program is available to graduate students wishing to become specialists with clear visions of software of the near future. The program produces individuals who have a grasp of the basic concepts necessary for developing software as a means of creating new values, an understanding of theories that are applicable to practical problems based on these concepts, and advanced expertise that extends to the practical aspects of software development. This education program is run in cooperation with the University of Tokyo and the National Institute of Informatics.

This education program trains graduate students to become global IT experts in the fields of built-in information system technology, large-scale computing technology, multimedia contents technology, human interface technology, robot information technology, and environmental IT technology. The program accepts foreign exchange students, and courses where exchange students and Japanese students form teams to do PBL (Project-Based Learning) tasks are available.

Graduate students actively pursuing research under the guidance of an academic supervisor play an active part in a variety of academic societies, both international and domestic, including the IEEE, ACM, IPSJ, and IEICE. In addition, many awards have been received from these academic societies for research results. By continuing on to a doctoral program, students can pursue their research further.

After completion, students can choose from a variety of career options, from software, Internet, communications, broadcast, electronics, and other information-related companies, to companies doing business in areas such as precision equipment, automobile, electricity, and transport. Working at government agencies and research institutes are also options. Furthermore, there are cases where our graduates have been involved in the establishment of IT-related venture companies.
