In line with the preparation to establish the Institute for Liberal Arts in April 2016, the Preparation Committee of the Institute for Liberal Arts (working group) held a kickoff symposium and a series of lectures.

Institute for Liberal Arts (ILA) Kickoff Symposium (July 6, 2015)
President Yoshinao Mishima was joined by over 100 Tokyo Tech students, faculty, staff members, and participants from other institutions at the symposium, where presentations by students were accompanied by vigorous discussion on the principles and education policies of the ILA.

Series of Seven Lectures for the Launch of the Institute for Liberal Arts (February - March, 2015)
A series of seven lectures was held where guests with a variety of perspectives were invited to consider Tokyo Tech's global-oriented approach to liberal arts.
