On April 13, 2026, a delegation of 37 members from the Department of Information and Computing Sciences, Faculty of Science at Utrecht University in the Netherlands—including two faculty members and 35 undergraduate and graduate students—visited the School of Computing. This visit was organized following a request from a student association at the university, whose members study computer science and information science, to visit our school as part of their study tour.

The program began with an overview of the university by Vice President Nobuhiro Hayashi (International Engagement and Education). This was followed by a presentation on the School of Computing’s organization and educational system by Dean Jun Miyazaki and Vice Dean Yasuhiko Minamide (Education).

The group then toured various campus facilities, including Hisao & Hiroko Taki Plaza (Taki Plaza), the Ookayama Library, and the Museum. To conclude the visit, they attended a lecture offered by the Computer Science Graduate Major, conducted by Professor Xavier Defago of the School of Computing.

Throughout the program, the participants listened intently to the explanations provided by the faculty members and engaged in a lively Q&A session. Furthermore, they communicated warmly and openly with the administrative staff during breaks and transition times, making the visit a truly meaningful and multifaceted exchange.

It is expected that this visit will further enhance the exchange between our schools in the future.
