About Us
The mission of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is to protect human lives and society from earthquakes, tsunamis, and floods, to prevent environmental pollution, and to build pleasant, safe and secure cities, countries, and towns. The Department uses high-performance simulation technology and advanced experimental facilities. Our curriculum covers a wide range of areas such as planning, design, development, and creating systems for use. We teach basic engineering expertise related to the maintenance and operation of social infrastructure, and basic knowledge related to the natural sciences. The Department develops individuals who, based on an understanding of the effects civil engineering technology has on natural and social environments, pursue the preservation and utilization of the natural earth, and rationally form, maintain, and manage high-quality social capital.
Welcome to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Our mission is ambitious and diverse: To build and manage infrastructures; to protect human lives and society from earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, and droughts; to build pleasant and prosperous cities and countries; and to solve local, regional, and global environmental issues. We educate future engineers and researchers who demonstrate leadership skills and develop the ability to envision a sustainable future through coursework and research.
