Chair of the Elasticity Committee, Engineering Mechanics Institute of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

Dr. Anil C. Wijeyewickrema, Associate Professor, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has been appointed the Chair of the Elasticity Committee, Engineering Mechanics Institute (EMI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), for a term of 2 years commencing October 2017.

The American Society of Civil Engineers founded in 1852, represents more than 150,000 members of the civil engineering profession in 177 countries. The Engineering Mechanics Institute is the organization representing engineering mechanics through the promotion of both research and application of scientific and mathematical principles to address a broad spectrum of existing and emerging engineering and societal problems.

Dr. Anil is the first faculty member from Tokyo Tech to be appointed the Chair of a Technical Committee of ASCE. His current research interests include computational seismic engineering and solid mechanics.
